Fixed-Gear & Singlespeed

Fixed-gear and singlespeed bikes are growing more and more popular for city riding, especially in relatively non-hilly cities like ours.

The bikes are simple, light weight, lower maintenance, and since wheels are typically bolted on instead of quick-release, the components are more theft-resistant. And they’re fun to ride to boot!

We sell new singlespeed and fixed gear bikes, and we’ve also converted just about every variety of geared bike to singlespeed or fixed gear. If you have any questions about fixed gears or singlespeeds, email us.

  • Hey There! I’m getting ready to sell my motorcycle and take up commuting by fixed gear bike. Any recommendations on where to start? What bikes do you have in the price range of say $350-$700?

  • I am looking for a 3 speed bike with both hand brakes and pedal brakes, an old-fashioned saddle seat, and handles that you don’t have to bend over to reach. Do you have anything like that? I have an old one..probably 15-20 years old??..that is broken in the garage..so I know they existed. : )

  • Yes, three speeds definitely still exist. We sell quite a few of them, actually. Most have either hand brakes or coaster brakes, but here is a link to one we sell that has both: http://www.konaworld.com/asphalt_simplicity.cfm?content=africabike_three
